
PFBC Boating Safety Education Course
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will provide a Basic Boating Course on March 18th. The course is recommended for participants 13 years of age and older, as participants under 12 will not be able to be certified to operate. The course is classroom-based with a combination of lecture and audio/visual aids, and is 8 hours in length as required for the certification process. Participants should bring their own snacks, drinks, writing utensils, and note pads are recommended but not required. The handbook for the course will be provided that day. There will be a provided 45-minute lunch break during the course at noon.

Boating courses are fun for the entire family and are offered at many locations throughout the state and in your own home. People who successfully complete a Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission approved boating course are issued a Boating Safety Education Certificate good for a lifetime.
Boating Safety Education Certificates are required:
• To operate a personal watercraft
• For persons born on or after January 1, 1982, to operate boats powered by motors greater than 25 horsepower.
